Andy Rubin heeft laten weten dat het nu populaire besturingssysteem voor smartphones oorspronkelijk bedoeld was voor camera's.
"The exact same platform, the exact same operating system we built for cameras, that became Android for cellphones,"Ook na de overname door Google bleef het software voor camera's, totdat de smartphonemarkt veel groter werd:
"We decided digital cameras wasn't actually a big enough market. I was worried about Microsoft and I was worried about Symbian, I wasn't worried about iPhone yet."Onlangs maakte Rubin bekend het Android-team te gaan verlaten voor een andere functie binnen Google.
